There’s nothing better than a petty neighbour dispute and this one being publicised across social media descends to a whole new level.

A unit block tenant has been publicly shamed after dumping her rubbish in public areas around the building.

The tenant, known as Helena from unit 208, was caught out after underestimating the depths to which her neighbours would descend to unmask her.

Helena was exposed after neighbours rifled through the dumped garbage to find takeaway receipts that revealed Helena’s identity.

In the ultimate petty power move, super-sleuth neighbours stuck the receipts to a wall with a note demanding Helena clean up her rubbish.

“Helena, stop leaving trash around making it seem like it is a different tenant,” one note read.

“Helena, pick up your trash,” said another.

“For Helena – unit 208,” read a third.

In Australia, these kinds of neighbour disputes can sometimes be escalated to a building’s strata manager.

Disputes that can’t be resolved by residents themselves can result in formal notices being issues if it is determined strata by-laws and obligations have been breached.

One bemused resident living in Helena’s block sent the whole dispute global after posting pictures of the rubbish and the notes to Reddit with a tag that read ‘second floor always has drama’.

Redditors were quick to applaud the neighbour actions.

“Not them going through her trash and digging out the receipts with her name,” one said.

“Oh this is my kind of petty,” said another.

“Helena needs to start feeling embarrassed,” a third person wrote.

“I actually love this,” another confessed.

Some Redditors suggested Helen’s neighbours didn’t go far enough with their pettiness.

“I’d take it up and put it on her front, and cut a slit in the bottom so that when they go to pick it up, it falls apart,” one person wrote.

One Redditor even offered some sage advice for Helena so she could properly cover her tracks next time.

“I might be crazy but anything I throw away with my name is ripped up to unreadable pieces. I’d picked up food last Saturday and the receipt had my name on it,” someone wrote.

“I ripped it up and then threw it away.”
