For 21-year-old real estate young gun Peter Serafino ambition became a way of life when he turned 15.

It was then that he started his first business, providing social media marketing services to local businesses, as he sought to save up to buy a car.

Mastering the art of goal setting at a young age, he has since charted an impressive trajectory, selling $25.179m worth of homes in the past year as a real estate agent — a profession famous for its fierce competition and brutal hours.

While many of his peers are still studying at university or off on carefree travel adventures, he is selling houses worth as much as $3m and about to start his own property portfolio with imminent plans to buy his own first home.

“My family background in construction is what initiated my passion for real estate, my experience running my own marketing business, and a stint in the entertainment and retail industry have all contributed to learning how to handle people from all walks of life, ” Mr Serafino said.

“But I think creating rhythm, discipline, and a routine has helped me absorb as much as possible to elevate my career.”

Rather than allowing his youth to hinder his progress, Mr Serafino has turned it into an asset, impressing homesellers with his passion for real estate and a down-to-earth approach.

In a profession where “real estate never sleeps” is often the guiding mantra, Mr Serafino also works hard to maintain balance.

“I have three pillars that shape the way I go about my life: mental, physical, and financial health,” he said.

Buxton Ashburton co-director Zack Song said Mr Serafino was very mature for his age.

“There aren’t many agents who can do $3.2m deals by themselves — he has a great attention to detail for his vendors,” Mr Song said.

“He wants to share his marketing and social media skills he has learnt with his peers.

“I started out working very hard, but when I look at Peter, he is one of the hardest working 21-year-olds I know.”
