Popular Married At First Sight stars Kerry and Johnny Balbuziente are selling the first house they bought together as a couple to make room for their new member of the family.

The Queensland-based fan favourites are looking for another project after renovating the Wavell Heights character home they bought two years ago.

“We’re looking to take the next step for our family,” Mrs Balbuziente said.

“We’re hoping to move a step closer to the city and family who live in Ascot.”

The pair have come a long way since meeting during MAFS Season 8 in 2021, welcoming their first child, Chloe, eight weeks ago.

Their romance culminated in a proposal one year after the show during a sunset boat ride on Sydney Harbour, followed by a wedding at Ciao Pai restaurant at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves in January last year.

“Johnny and I have loved flipping this home, and hope potentially to do it again,” she said.

“I’m a weirdo. I love moving house and having a blank canvas to start again and decorate.”

They have completely renovated the Barker Street home — modernising it, while also staying true to its heritage.

The property has just hit the market with Drew Davies of Place Estate Agents, with an auction scheduled for September 11.

“It was due for a facelift,” Mrs Balbuziente said.

“We’ve kept the beautiful, original ceiling roses and the same windows, but we’ve gently brought her into a more modern era.

“Lots of bright whites and colourful furnishings. It’s been described as coastal chic, which I think is my influence.”

As you walk into the kitchen — the heart of their home — above the door, they have the iconic plaque from their MAFS Hotel room.

“Johnny pried it off with a butter knife and we said if things work out and we get a house together, we’ll put this up!” she said.

“Now it sits proudly as we enter the kitchen. It’s quite a prominent feature.”

Unfortunately, they’ll be taking that with them.

Since leaving the show, she says “the house has been a big priority for us”.

She also owns Caxton Street Brewing Company, alongside her day job as an occupational therapist, while Johnny is a theatre producer.

“We’re hoping we’re selling in a hot market, but the trade-off is you’re buying in a limited market,” she said.

“Lucky we have in-laws with a spare bedroom, so we might be bunking in all together!”
