Australia’s greatest women’s basketballer, Lauren Jackson, has proven she’s just as dominant off the court as she’s on it.
The Olympic champion has officially bounced her investment property in her country New South Wales hometown, turning a $160,000 land purchase into a $701,000 sale in a mere three years.
Jackson, a five-time Olympic medallist and WNBA icon, added “savvy real estate investor” to her already impressive resume after her modern three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 49 Evesham Place, Thurgoona, sold for $701,000 in a red-hot online auction this week.
Property records reveal the basketball legend snapped up the 346sqm block in 2022 for a modest $160,000.
She then built a contemporary residence on the site two years ago, before cashing in on the booming regional market.

The family home sold to a local buyer.
Selling agent Andrea Lever of Ray White Albury North confirmed the property’s prime position was a major drawcard.
“The property’s prime position, with modern appointments and low-maintenance appeal made it highly attractive to a range of buyers. It was a very busy campaign,” she said.
The home backed directly onto a golf course and country club, with tennis courts just across the road.
For those inspired by Jackson’s legacy, the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre is also a short 10-minute drive away.
“We’re thrilled to have achieved an excellent result for Lauren,” Ms Lever said.
The near-new Thurgoona property also boasts estimated rental returns of $615 per week, highlighting its appeal to investors.
Jackson purchased the property three years ago.

Ray White Chief Economist Nerida Conisbee explained that Sydney’s escalating prices continue to push buyers towards coastal and country alternatives in regions like Albury. “Strategic infrastructure investments helped accelerate this trend.
The Rebuilding NSW program, Pacific Highway improvements, and regional rail upgrades made these areas more accessible and attractive to city buyers,” she noted.
“There is a lot of investor activity in Albury and throughout northern Victoria driven by buyer’s agents,” Ms Conisbee said.
“Early momentum paid off during the pandemic, with regional NSW achieving strong 51.7 per cent growth as the lifestyle shift accelerated. Post-pandemic, growth has slowed but remains solid at 13.0 per cent between 2023 and 2025.”
Jackson announced her retirement just minutes after the Opals qualified for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
The 43-year-old announced her retirement in a post-match interview, stating: “I’m done.”
“I love Brazil, Brazil’s been very good to me. How fitting that I get to finish my national career with Australia in Brazil.”
