Singer Jessica Simpson’s enormous Los Angeles mansion has been taken off the market — nearly one year after it was listed for $17.9 million (AUD $27.4 million) amid her ongoing divorce from husband Eric Johnson.
Simpson, 45, and Johnson, 46, initially listed the extraordinary Hidden Hills dwelling on Jan. 11, two days before they confirmed the news of their split, with the “Irresistible” songstress telling “Entertainment Tonight” that the pair had been “living separately” for some time.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson, who shares three children with her former spouse, said at the time.
“Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Their January home listing marked the second time that they had tried to offload their seven-bedroom mansion — having first put the property on the market for the much higher price of $22 million (AUD $33.7 million) back in September 2023, Realtor reports.

The former couple purchased the sprawling 13,200-square-foot estate for $11.5 million (AUD $17.6 million) in 2013, less than a year before they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Montecito.
In its listing, the property was described as a “private retreat” that offers “mesmerising city lights and mountain views that will leave you breathless.”
It added: “Awe-inspiring features abound, including eight spacious ensuite bedrooms with beautifully appointed baths, a guesthouse complete with a kitchenette, and an intricately panelled study featuring a warm fireplace.”
The listing photos revealed that Simpson and Johnson have carried out extensive renovations in order to suit the home to their lifestyle, including adding a funky and colourful recording studio where the singer was able to work on her music.
Fun fabrics, textures, and colours can be found throughout the property, including a wood-panelled library, which was given a very modern feel with the addition of some zebra-print couches, and the entryway, which was covered in elegant floral wallpaper.
An enormous pool in the backyard offers stunning views of the surrounding area from the home’s hilltop perch, while multiple outdoor dining areas provide the perfect place to soak up the California sun.

The property has served as Simpson and Johnson’s marital home for more than 10 years — and it is where they have raised all three of their children together.
However, in recent years, Simpson has revealed her desire to leave Los Angeles for good, telling her sister, Ashlee Simpson Ross, in an interview for The Cut that she first came to the realisation that the city was no longer the best fit for her when she moved to Nashville temporarily to write her latest album, “Nashville Canyon.”
“As mothers, we’re people pleasers. We want to make sure everybody’s happy, nobody’s crying,” she said. “We come last here in L. A. I needed to go somewhere where I was first. Not that I didn’t think of my children.”
The former reality star revealed that she and Johnson continued co-parenting their three children — Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5 — while she was living in a rental property in Tennessee, explaining that the kids spent time with her in that home, as well as in the family’s mansion in California where their father was residing.

Speaking to her sibling from inside the home, Simpson explained that she doesn’t know whether she will relocate to Nashville full time, but said she is confident in her decision to leave Los Angeles once and for all.
“I feel like I’ve been home too long. My L.A. house is on the market. I don’t know where I’m going next, but it’s time to go,” she said.
Although she and Johnson have split, Simpson was full of praise for her estranged spouse, expressing her gratitude towards him for allowing her to have the freedom to move to Nashville in order to write her album.
“It is a gift. Eric supported that gift. My kids supported that gift,” she said of the time she spent in Tennessee.
Speaking of her decision to relocate to Nashville, Simpson explained that it was prompted by a realisation she had while celebrating her daughter Maxwell’s 11th birthday in the city, explaining that it was that moment that made her “see the light.”
“I had to be in Nashville. I started looking at real estate that day,” she recalled.
In addition to the emotional space that Nashville afforded her, there was also one other very exciting upside to live in the Tennessee city that Simpson enjoyed: no paparazzi.
“Another great thing about Nashville is there’s no paparazzi. I literally was doing cartwheels down the Walmart aisles,” she joked.

However, Simpson has not yet committed to a life away from Los Angeles — with images posted to her Instagram as recently as Oct. 17 revealing that she was still using her Hidden Hills home.
One photo, which she took shortly before the premiere for Ryan Murphy’s new Hulu series, “All’s Fair,” shows the singer — who has a guest role in the project — posing in her red carpet gown in the entryway of her dwelling, with the distinctive floral wallpaper seen in the background.
Another snap, posted on Oct. 9, showed her daughter, Birdie, posing as the singer inside her recording studio at the property, with Simpson writing in the caption: “Today is dress as your favourite artist for spirit week at school and Bird wanted to dress up as meeeeee.”
It is currently unclear whether Simpson has decided to hold onto the home — at least until her divorce is finalised — or whether she has taken it off the market temporarily while she attempts to figure out where she will live next.
