Fresh off retirement from the NRL, inaugural Dolphins player Kenny Bromwich has traded the football field for family life — settling into a custom-built home in Brisbane’s north with a few very personal touches.
The former Dolphins forward and his family have just moved into a brand-new Ausbuild home in Warner, but unlike most homeowners, Bromwich didn’t just pick the finishes — he helped build it himself.

He had some family support on the tools too, with brother and fellow Dolphins veteran Jesse Bromwich also getting hands-on during the construction process.
The result is a five-bedroom, five-bathroom family home complete with a pool house, putting green, and a showcase of footy memorabilia celebrating Bromwich’s rugby league career.
Inside, the home has been designed with a relaxed coastal feel, featuring soft neutral tones, pale blue accents and subtle nods to the brothers’ New Zealand heritage.

“The kind of vibe I was going for with the house, I wanted a kind of beachy vibe,” Bromwich said.
“That’s why we went with light beigy colours, the light blue in the kitchen, and then in the showers and the niches we got the Paua-looking tiles, which is something that reminds us of home.”
The kitchen quickly emerged as one of Bromwich’s favourite spaces.
“This is where I do some of my best work,” he joked.

Elsewhere, the media room has become the unofficial headquarters for the family’s children.
“The media room is where the kids spend most of their time on Playstation and watching movies in here,” he said.
The home also features some prized career keepsakes, including a framed jersey commemorating Bromwich’s first-ever game for the Dolphins against the Roosters, alongside memorabilia from his NRL debut.

But while the home is packed with luxury features, Bromwich said it was the community feel of Warner that made the biggest impact.
“I chose Warner because I lived in the area and I was also working on the estate,” he said. “I really liked the look of the houses, and the golf course is near.
“The best thing about living in Warner is the community. My neighbours are awesome. We’re always catching up at each others’ houses, having a barbecue.”
