Inside Queensland’s cheapest ’home’ on the market

Surprise! It is a fixer-upper caravan

Queensland’s cheapest ‘unit’ on the market right now is listed for just $20,000.

But there is a catch. It is a caravan with an annex, and it needs some desperate renovations.

Located at Millbank near Bundaberg, the property is listed as a “handyman’s opportunity”.

“Renovation required. Great location,” the listing says.

“Renovate this permanent sited van where you pay only $190 a week rent on the site and have the advantage of being in town, two to three minutes’ drive to Bundaberg Hospital and amenities and only a few meters to the parks own swimming pool,” the generous listing says.

“Tired looking but with good bones you have a blank canvas to make your own home.”

The kitchen needs some work

The property has “electric cooking, airconditioner, washing machine and dryer, even an old bed”.

Another caravan and annex is also listed near Bundaberg for $35,000.

“Hard to find at this price with todays cost of living, $190 a week (cheaper for pensioners),” that listing says.

“This is a dog-friendly park. One or two bed caravan, clean and tidy, with ensuite and a large approximately 10 yearold annex containing a full-size kitchen, gas cooking and instant hot water, plus (an) almost new air conditioner.

“Renovations were started, requires minor work to complete and the paint is supplied for decorating (if you like the colour).

“Easily maintained site with no grass to mow. Ample room for (a) large car, the property has three sides private fencing and dual access.

“Although you have a few small steps up to the deck, the whole abode, van, annex and deck, are all on one level.”

The listing says it is in a “good location on the edge of town” in a well maintained, established park only minutes from the university, major shopping centre, Brothers sports club, and airport, and about 20 minutes to the nearby beaches and rivers.
