Inside One Direction’s global property portfolios

4 days ago 6

One Direction members have traded the X Factor stage for a global real estate empire worth more than $A700 million — but it hasn’t all been big wins for the boy band.

While Harry Styles is building a massive property fortune, other members have been forced to offload mansions at staggering million-dollar losses.

The property moves of the five singers are just as impressive as their music. Here is the breakdown of the mega-mansions they call home.

Harry Styles

Estimated to be worth $US140 million ($A390 million), Harry Styles has made a few plays in the real estate market.

The As It Was singer has two homes in North London and a loft apartment in Manhattan.

The Don’t Worry Darling star previously resided in a home above the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, which he purchased in February 2014 for $US4 million ($A5.6 million).

After selling it in June 2016 for $US3.1 million ($A4.3 million), it was fully remodelled and flipped for $US11 million ($A15 million).

In 2022, Lizzo bought the property for $US15 million ($A21 million).

Liam Payne

Liam Payne’s wealth was revealed following his tragic death in October 2024.

Official records indicate the singer died without a will, leaving behind a fortune of £24.3 million ($A50.21 million) in money, property, and possessions.

Just weeks before his death, Payne placed his six-bedroom Buckinghamshire mansion, known as “Foxwood” on the market.

It is understood the London home, initially listed with a guide price of AU$8.5 million, may have found a buyer via a limited grant to allow the sale to proceed.

At the time of his passing, Payne was renting a Florida property for $A14,000 a month, which has recently been returned to the rental market.

Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik, worth an estimated $US75 million ($A115 million), has largely turned his back on the UK property market to invest heavily in the US, though not without taking a hit.

In 2012, the Pillowtalk hit maker splashed out $US5 million ($A7.5 million) for a home in North London.

The musician listed the property for sale in September 2019 for $US4.6 million ($A6.4 million). He may still own this property.

The I Don’t Wanna Live Forever singer purchased a house in LA’s Bel Air neighbourhood for $US3.1 million ($A4.3 million) in 2015.

Malik was forced to take a loss when he eventually sold the property for $US2.94 million ($A4.1 million) in October 2019 after reducing the price multiple times.

In 2018, the crooner forked out $US10.7 million ($A15.1 million) for a penthouse in Soho, New York.

The four-bedroom apartment features a private roof terrace and is one of only three units in the building.

Malik also maintains a farm in rural Pennsylvania, where he spent much of his time during the Covid pandemic.

Louis Tomlinson

With a net worth of $US60 million ($A92 million), Louis Tomlinson is another member who felt the sting of a cooling US market.

In 2016, the Back to You singer spent $US7.3 million ($A10.3 million) on a Hollywood Hills mansion.

By 2020, the musician was forced to accept a $US900,000 ($A1.2 million) loss selling the home for $US6.4 million ($A9.1 million).

Tomlinson has since shifted his wealth back to the UK, residing in a Victorian-style estate outside London valued at £5 million ($A9.7 million).

Niall Horan, also worth $US60 million ($A92 million), has been recently tidying up his global holdings.

In late 2024, the musician sold his sprawling Irish estate, “Il Sogno,” for roughly €775,000 ($A1.3 million). He originally bought it for his mother.

The singer owns a $US4 million ($A6.1million) estate in the Hollywood Hills, which features a recording studio and a pool. He maintains a luxury penthouse in South London.
