He’s one of South Australia’s most renowned – and awarded – builders, and now Krivic’s Ian Krivicic is selling his own Mid-century Mitcham masterpiece, giving another family the opportunity to live the enviable lifestyle his has.
Ian and his wife Tania bought the property in 2014, attracted by its stunning aesthetic, quality construction and the opportunity it offered for a breathtaking contemporary update.

“It was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up – to pick up an original ’63/64-built John Chappell Mid-century home and give it what we think is a really beautiful renovation,” Mr Krivicic says.

“We put on a small addition but we kept it within the keeping of the home and whatever we did internally was sympathetic to what was already there. It always had an abundance of light, because it has a horizontal ribbon of windows around the property which really invited the outside in, so it was all there, we just added some quality interior design. We’ve got a 30m north-facing rear yard which is quite rare, and by the time we added to the existing pool all of external areas – pavilions, firepit, it really just enhanced it all.”

The home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a cellar and several indoor and outdoor living spaces. In the rear yard you’ll find a tennis court, a pool, a firepit area and a covered alfresco space with a traditional pizza oven, giving families and entertainers plenty of room to move.
“Our children Tayla and Daniel were 12 and 14 when we moved in and they’ve grown up there,” Mr Krivicic says.
“It’s been an amazing family home.

“My daughter’s wing was quite large and all of her friends would joke that it was bigger than their houses. It was good fun. It’s a great family home and it’s private – driving past you wouldn’t even know it’s there.
“We’ll leave with memories we’ll have forever. I’m an Aussie-born Croatian and my wife’s Aussie-born but half Italian and half Croatian so our Christmases and birthdays are always really big, and we had my sister’s wedding here in the gardens too, which was really special. It’s a great entertainer.”

With their kids having moved on and the couple now opting for a sea-change at the Krivic-built Aldinga development Mesa, Ian says he hopes another family will love it like his has.
“We’re incredibly proud of it,” Mr Krivicic says.
“It’s been a truly wonderful place to live, but it’s just too big for us now and time for us to move on.”
