A grand Federation estate with magical views bought by fashion moguls for $2.2m in 1997 has hit the market.

Brian and Corin Powell created Running Bare aerobic wear in 1983 when they recognised there was not enough good quality fashionable gym clothing on the market, just in time for the 1980s fitness boom.

They also have an eye for quality real estate, with their six-bedroom family home at 855 New South Head Rd, Rose Bay now listed in an expressions of interest campaign with a $25m guide via Ray White Double Bay principal Elliott Placks and Sotheby’s principal Michael Pallier.

“This is such a grand home … the view is one of the best and you can see all of Sydney’s icons,” says Mr Placks.

The majestic residence on a 1,444 sqm block sits high on the Rose Bay hillside, guaranteeing the incredible outlook over the harbour.

Resembling a French manor, the circa 1912 property features a cobbled courtyard driveway with manicured gardens leading to a private elevated entrance.

Inside, there are timber floors, wall panels and cross beams along with decorative ceilings, bay windows and original stonework.

855 New South Head Rd, Rose Bay has magical views over the harbour to the city skyline, Opera House sails and Harbour Bridge.

A marble kitchen, with Lacanche gas stove and Liebherr fridge, takes centre stage and northeast facing balconies and terraces offer a postcard-perfect panorama stretching from Shark Island, Rose Bay beach and across to the Opera House and Bridge.

The lower level is self contained and a huge attic space is an opportunity for expansion.
