Around 200 people packed the lawn of a house in Camp Hill on Saturday morning: a brand new build from a developer expecting to sell the home at auction for millions.

The five-bedroom, three bathroom home at 10 Janette St is named ‘Sintra’, a bespoke property sitting on 637 sqm of land.

Built by Slate Property, the house was designed to feature natural light throughout its indoor-outdoor living plan: with three metre ceilings, six metre voids and French oak flooring some of the home’s deluxe features.

It attracted a crowd of hundreds, many of whom Place auctioneer Peter Burgin said were eager to see what the sale said about the state of Brisbane’s housing market.

“A lot of the local market was there, people potentially selling, other people that were buying, just hoping to assess the market itself,” he said. “A lot of positivity there, feels like a lot of people were in real estate mode.”

While the crowd was large, only two registered bidders went head to head for the home itself.

The home, built by Slate Property, attracted around 200 people at the Saturday morning auction.

Bidding began at $3.5 million dollars: a high price that only rocketed higher moments later.

“It was very fast,” he said. “The bidding went from 3.5 to 3.8 in about 10 seconds.”

Bidding soon paused shortly after, and after some discussions with the vendor, the home sold at auction for $3,831,000.

Bidding went back and forth between two local families, before the home sold for $3,831,000.

Place Woolloongabba agent Denis Najzar said the two bidders were two local families eager to claim the prestige location as their new home.

“Unfortunately, only one of them could win the property,” he said.

“It was a very good competitive auction and a very good result for the vendor.”

“He was very composed and believed in his product,” he added, with Mr Burgin some within Slate considered the home to be “probably their best project yet”.
