Forget being the worst house in the best street, this property may be the worst house in the suburb, and it’s literally a fire sale.
The four-bedroom, lowset house at 15 Lorikeet St, Wulagi, is on the market after surviving a house fire, though not unscathed.
It comes with retro archways, high-gloss tiles and a generous coating of soot throughout.
Selling agent Darren Hunt, of Real Estate Central Projects, said the ‘burning’ question concerning the house was “what happened”.
“Well, it caught fire,” he said. “How? Not sure.”
But what remains is now on the market with a price guide of $398,000.
“It’s certainly not a turnkey home – there’s no front door for the key,” Mr Hunt said.
“What’s left (is) just the blockwork really, everything else is compromised.
“There’s two bathrooms but they’ll both require an upgrade from their current state.”
The home is on an 817sq m block and has four bedrooms, a kitchen, a separate dining room and a living area.
There’s also a study with attached bathroom, a rumpus room and a store room.
Mr Hunt said if buyers did their sums, they’d see this property was a bargain.
“It’s selling for less than the land is worth and you’re getting a dwelling – albeit heavily compromised – for free,” he said.
“The buyers who should be taking note are young tradies.
“They can utilise their skills and all the hard work is already done – the concrete slab is there and the blockwork is solid.”
Mr Hunt said this was by far the worst house he’d ever taken to market, but it had bucket loads of potential.
“If you’re a young tradesman with vision – have a crack,” he said.
The property will be open by inspection only due to safety reasons.
