A lucky group of four guests has snagged an ultimate beachfront holiday hosted by surf champion Mick Fanning for a tiny $7.
The guests scored an incredible getaway package comprising a three-night stay in a converted apartment at the Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) along with a one-hour surf lesson, Rip Curl shopping spree, and sunset barbecue with Fanning himself.
The one-off promotion was offered on a first-in, first-served basis through short-term accommodation platform Airbnb, who partnered with three-time world champion Fanning to promote water safety.
While the beachfront stay would be worth thousands of dollars, the nominal $7 cost was a nod to his World Surf League jersey number.
“I’m stoked to welcome guests to the ultimate beach retreat at Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) in Queensland,” Fanning, 43, said.
“Listen to the waves and watch the sets roll in at this converted surf club space.
“This loft style getaway is the perfect spot to make summer memories that last a lifetime.”
The upstairs area of the surf club was transformed into a surf-inspired summer studio with sweeping ocean views, courtesy of a whirlwind renovation by Airbnb.
The open-plan space has a queen bed and bunk beds, along with a kitchen and adjacent dining and lounge areas, and a balcony with a barbecue and outdoor seating to relax and soak up the vibes, overlooking the breaks near where Fanning honed his craft.
“I can’t wait to share my local area with you,” Fanning said.
“Guests will have the opportunity to get up close with my personal surfboard collection and favourite memorabilia, as well as heritage items from Palm Beach SLSC that celebrate the club’s rich history.”

While the surf club digs was offered up to as a publicity stunt, Fanning and his partner Breeana Randall launched a luxury holiday rental property at Bilinga in 2022.
Known as Rolling Seas, the property comprises a three-storey house and guest cottage sleeping up to 12.
The lavish digs were originally built in 2014 as a family home for the high-profile couple, who have two young children, before undergoing a spectacular modern coastal-style renovation.
No strangers to the local property scene, Fanning has splashed around $10m on southern Gold Coast real estate in recent years, including their elevated Tugun home and an investment property in the same suburb, which sold ahead of auction last month for more than $3m.
Airbnb country manager Susan Wheeldon said the platform notched a 35 per cent spike in the number of visitors booking beachfront properties last summer, highlighting the importance of educating both local and domestic travellers on water safety.
“Staying in a home on Airbnb means you can enjoy a pool in your backyard or find secluded beaches and hidden swimming spots,” Ms Wheeldon said.
“Often that means you may not have in-depth understanding of water safety or be unfamiliar with the local conditions.”
Surf Life Saving Australia launched Beach Passport, a free online course for the public to gain basic water safety awareness and stay safe at the beach.
