Highgrove Bathrooms Brisbane franchise owners Nick and Katie Crosland bought the property in 2018 before embarking on the epic renovation.
“The house was built in the late ’80s or early ’90s and was beautiful, with an American ranch style,” Mr Crosland said.
“Back in the day it was quite a well-known house for its size and scale, and had even won awards for its pool.
“It was well-built and timeless, so it would have been a shame to knock it down, but it did need a modern facelift.”

Initially the Croslands lived in the existing home to get a feel for the residence while working with an architect on a major overhaul of the property.
Their aim was to retain the American influence but convert the home from ranch-style to a traditional Hamptons-inspired manor.
Over 12 months they stripped and reconfigured the interior, removed the external cladding, and added a four-car garage while converting the existing garage into a family room and fifth bedroom with ensuite.

Beyond the house, they manicured the garden area to open up 180-degree views across the tree canopy, resurfaced the driveway, updated the entertaining pavilion overlooking the pool, and replaced the pool fencing.
In total, the renovation had a price tag similar to building a new home, but Mr Crosland said preserving the property was absolutely worth it.
“We’ve built new homes before but no matter how nice they are, you can tell when they’re built,” he said.
“We wanted something timeless. This one had already lasted 30 years and now it will last at least 30 more.”

The Croslands’ meticulous renovation has resulted in a stately family residence that could also serve as a holiday home or retreat for professionals seeking peace and quiet, and key to the property’s appeal is its dream entertainer lifestyle.
The house boasts a huge kitchen with breakfast bar, multiple living and dining areas including a sunken formal dining room with fireplace and wet bar, and an outdoor entertaining pavilion with built-in barbecue overlooking the pool.
“In winter, we love sitting by the fireplace on a Friday afternoon with a glass of wine, and in summer, we spend all our time by the pool, enjoying that back entertaining area,” Mr Crosland said.
“You feel like you’re in another world, where you’re elevated above the tree canopy in total privacy.”

While the home boasts an exclusive resort-style appeal, its location is within easy reach of the coast.
“It’s so close to everything but is far enough away,” Mr Crosland said.
“Burleigh’s just 8kms away and you can easily drive there for a surf or Uber in for dinner.”
But with the Crosland’s business interests in Brisbane and their children now reaching school age, the time has come for the family to reluctantly part with their Tallebudgera hideaway.
“We need to be closer to work and school, but it’s definitely a reluctant sale,” Mr Crosland said.
“It’s a timeless and elegant home with a family feel that offers peace and quiet but is so close to everything.”
The property is listed with Jodi Lee of Amir Prestige and is for sale by expression of interest.
