Buyers have the chance to own a piece of Hollywood history, with the iconic house from the 1982 horror film “Poltergeist” looking for a buyer.

On the market for the first time in 45 years, easily-spooked househunters need not worry, with it being confirmed that the spooky ghosts shall not be included.

The Californian residence is listed for $1.73m (US$1.17m), and its brush with scary movie history also made it one of the most-popular homes for sale in America last week, according to Realtor.

“This is the home where much of the first movie of the series was filmed, but ‘This house is clean. Seriously, it is!’” the listing notes.

No exorcism is needed at the charming dwelling, which served as the Freeling family house in the film.

Upon first entry into the foyer and you “immediately feel the good energy” of this well-maintained home, the listing says.

Built in 1979, it has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and includes a large living room with oversized windows, a formal dining room.

And the “infamous” kitchen is still in its original form from where some of the creepier scenes occurred.

The appliances have been changed out, but otherwise, it’s the white-tiled kitchen where chairs freakishly stacked themselves.

The layout also includes a family room with a fireplace, a built-in office nook, and a half-bathroom.

The four bedrooms, including the primary suite, are all upstairs, while a three-car garage offers plenty of storage.

Set on a third of an acre, the property includes a pool and spa — and space to add a pool house or guest unit.

And the listing cheekily notes that it’s much safer than “building a portal to another dimension”.
