Ballarat Property Agents’ Nicole Male said the residence’s owners had dubbed their pad Hogwarts because it reminded them of the fictional British Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, featured in the Harry Potter books and films.
The medieval-esque building that the apartment is situated in, once the Redemptorist Monastery of Our Lady of Perpetual Hope, was built in stages between 1891 and 1933.
In the 1990s, the heritage-listed complex was converted into boutique apartments.
The former Redemptorist Monastery of Our Lady of Perpetual Hope, now an apartment complex, features soaring gables and dormer windows …
… and the Hogwarts Castle at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, at Universal Studios in Florida.

Ms Male said most buyers who inspected the Hogwarts-style digs had described it as “amazing”.
“People love the height of the ceilings, the dormer windows and the apartment is very spacious, with plenty of natural light coming into the north-facing living area,” Ms Male said.
“Apart from the history, it is something special and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy here – generally three-bedroom apartments don’t come up very often.”
The kitchen is fitted with stone benchtops and a dormer window.

The Monastery Apartments’ garden is full of greenery, but there’s no Hagrid’s hut or Whomping Willow to be seen.
The apartment is close to shops, the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, Lake Wendouree and Wendouree train station.
One of the owners, an artist, has set up a studio in the main bedroom that contains a walk-in-wardrobe and ensuite.
The main bathroom has a separate shower and bath, while there’s also a European laundry, gas Rinnai heating and two car parks in the underground park.
The Monastery Apartments, surrounded by extensive gardens, is walking distance to Wendouree train station.
Ms Male said couples, families with school-age children and investors had inspected the home.
She added that she did not believe the former monastery was haunted, so prospective buyers were unlikely to see ghosts floating about, much like they do at Hogwarts.
