The Toorak mansion which Olympic medallist Grant Hackett and his wife Sharlene have purchased.
Olympic gold medallist Grant Hackett and his wife, dessert chef Sharlene, have splashed$13.425m on a Toorak mansion,
The purchase comes after the couple listed a Brighton vacant block of land for $8m-$8.8m, in May.
Hackett won gold in the 1500m freestyle at both the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Athens Olympics, plus silver medals in other events.

Hackett’s rollcall of sporting achievements includes scoring a silver and bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and remaining undefeated in the World Aquatics Championships’ 1500m race from 1996 until 2007.
Hackett captained the Australian swimming team from 2005 until his 2008 retirement.
Since then, he was worked as a commentator, television presenter and is now financial services company Generation Development Group’s chief executive.
The Hackett’s new Toorak house features a self-cleaning pool, lift and basement with a climate-controlled wine cellar, powder room, home theatre and six-car garage.

Marshall White’s Marcus Chiminello and Mandy Zhu had the listing, although Mr Chiminello declined to comment.
However, records show the home now has a caveat in Ms Hackett’s name.
The property was designed by Nicholas Day Architects and has a garden created by well-known landscape designer Jack Merlo.
Marble-tiled floors, an office, formal living and dining rooms, an outdoor barbecue and main bedroom suite which includes a lounge room, dressing room, accessory closet and bathroom add to the wow factor.
The kitchen is equipped with Gaggenau appliances and a butler’s kitchen.

In February, the house was initially listed with a $15m-$16.5m range.
According to industry sources, the Hacketts bought the residence for $13.425m, with the mansion’s online listing marked as “sold” last month.
Marshall White’s Campbell Butterss is managing the marketing campaign for the couple’s Brighton plot, located in Mulgoa St.
In May, Mr Butterss told the Herald Sun that the 1181sq m site could have a build worth as much as $10m added to it by the next owners.
The garage can hold up to six cars.
There’s multiple bathrooms in the house, as well as two powder rooms.
He said plans to build a house on the land were still active if the next owner wanted to use them as the blueprint for a luxury abode with a basement level, two more floors above ground, an indoor lap pool and another water feature outside — as well as a home gym and cinema.
Expressions of interest for the property will close at 2pm on June 9.
In March last year the Hacketts sold a five-bedroom house in Rothesay Ave, Brighton, for $7.4m.
