Avenelle Harris and Stanley Sclavos are building two luxury homes in Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast couple Avenelle Harris and Stanley Sclavos are in the process of building two houses in one of the city’s hottest suburbs.

The pair, who work as a real estate agent and construction project manager, bought a block in Mermaid Waters in February, with plans to create two luxury residences known as ‘Enzo’ and ‘La Curve’.

“We steered away from doing a renovation as we wanted to challenge ourselves starting a project from scratch,” Ms Harris said.

“We decided to build two houses to maximise the massive block size and rare street frontage.”

They enlisted Jayson Pate Design and Wave Developments to bring their vision to life.

“We started working with Jayson Pate’s team who gave us two homes that we automatically fell in love with,” Ms Harris said.

“I believe we met three times and everything we dreamt on ‘notes’ was detailed into two beautiful homes.

“When we met Adam from Wave Developments, I think we both knew his team was going to be the one we trusted in building our homes.

“He had taken us through his Jayson Pate designed home and the attention to detail on that home is exactly what we are receiving at Enzo and La Curve.”

Enzo, at 399A Rio Vista Blvd, is a mix of coastal and contemporary styling with curves and pink hues. It includes a chef style kitchen along with a walk-in wine cellar.

La Curve, at 2 Rawlinna Drive, is a contemporary home — standout features include a 2m wide skylight, spiral staircase and a cantilevered balcony.

“The construction process has been actually effortless at this stage of the projects,” Ms Harris said.

“We bought the block in February and at this current rate there may be a chance we are in before Christmas.”

The houses are on two titles — a “must have” and “huge benefit to any prospective buyer”, according to Ms Harris.

The couple said the real estate market was strong for well executed projects in the city’s central suburbs and planned to list both homes for sale with Kollosche Broadbeach in 2025.

“The Gold Coast lifestyle, even further the Mermaid lifestyle is one you can’t beat,” Ms Harris said.

“Mermaid Waters has had record prices smashed this year and is continuing to see the benchmark being raised.

“We’re excited for what’s to come for the suburb.”

PropTrack data reveals the median house sale price in Mermaid Waters is $1.79m, up 7.8 per cent over 12 months.

The suburb recorded its highest sale in March when a showstopper waterfront home name Armorel sold for a record-breaking $7.7m.
