Social media influencer Shannon Cooper was able to build her dream home after buying “the most expensive shed in Northgate”, and it’s now on the market to buy.

107 Gympie St is one of two adjacent properties Ms Cooper bought from the same owner, which she then subdivided into three plots.

On one plot was an older house the vendor was using as a shed, which was found by the local council to be an unsafe living space.

“It had massive cracks all through the ceiling,” Ms Cooper. “The floors were sunken in places as well. So it was 100 per cent not a safe space to be actually residing in.”

Influencer Shannon Cooper runs My Food Religion on Instagram, and is selling what she once planned to be her ideal home.

Instead, Ms Cooper – who runs My Food Religion on Instagram – started an entirely new build while living in the home next door.

She and her family worked with RedDoor Architects to create the house to council specifications, in order to make the home blend with the other character buildings in the street.

“The design for us was really about maximising what we could fit on a small lot that allowed us to still have beautiful outdoor spaces,” she said.

107 Gympie St, Northgate, is a new build atop one of the blocks Ms Cooper bought.

Originally, the property had the suburb’s “most expensive shed”, until an entirely new home was created.

Place Ascot agent Janelle McKenna said the final product made for a product that clients thought was seamless with the rest of the area.

“I’ve had more people ask me if it’s a renovation than thinking it’s a new house,” she said. “It is actually all brand new, but they’ve managed to get that feel about it.”

The home was built with high ceilings and large voids to maximise its space, along with plenty of glass openings to the backyard.

This allowed Ms Cooper to keep an eye on her daughter playing in the backyard pool from various parts of the house.

The home has a large ceiling and void to take advantage of all its available space.

It was important for Ms Cooper to build a home with plenty of visibility to the outside.

Having used the location for her social media videos, Ms Cooper’s family have made the decision to move up north to the Sunshine Coast.

“I’m definitely going to miss the kitchen, because it is such a perfect space for me,” she said. “It’s perfect for entertaining … for content and filming and recipe development. But it’s also just such a nice space to actually be in.”

“If we could pick this house up and take it with us to the coast, we would.”

The property is expected to go to auction on Saturday, March 29.
