Five best homes for sale this week

1 month ago 13

It’s easy to find a home for sale in the Queenslander style – it’s a lot harder to find a home lifted straight from the UK.

But that’s exactly what one builder did decades ago, to make the dream home for his wife and family. It’s one of Queensland’s five best homes this week, from the affordable to the extravagant.

1082 Samford Rd, Keperra

When Lisa and Eddie Duggan built the six-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 1082 Samford Rd, Keperra, they built it to match the homes Ms Duggan remembered from the English countryside.

“I wanted a home where you don’t just look at it and know the layout,” she said. “You go, ‘I want to go in that house … I wonder what it looks like in there.’”

Built on a 2187 sqm block, ‘Keperra Manor’ is a uniquely-designed house built by Mr Duggan himself, whose family lived in the home for the next thirty years.

“It’s hard to put 30 years of memories in one quote,” he said. “It’s just peaceful. We love the place.”

The Duggans say it’s a sad feeling to part with a home they’ve made so many memories in.

Featuring a sweeping staircase and intricately designed ornaments across the vast open-floored home, the building was designed for family and friends to gather in luxury.

“We’ve had lots of events where we’ve had over a hundred people, and you don’t even feel [they’re] there,” Ms Duggan said. “This space just loves people.”

Holly Bowden of Ray White Wilston will auction the home on Thursday, September 5.

28 Gresham St, East Brisbane

28 Gresham St, East Brisbane

What was once a small East Brisbane cottage was then renovated into a lush two-storey house: with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and modern amenities for the new homeowner.

The home at 28 Gresham St was redone by vendor Chris Millington to allow for larger living and work spaces across the property, offering a blend of dual living with entertaining spaces on both levels.

“We tried to maintain the integrity of a Queenslander, so it’s all done in weatherboard and beautiful timber floors,” she said. “It’s really going to fit people who have two teenagers.”

The former cottage’s renovations have allowed for modern living with both space and privacy out the back.

Ms Millington said the home resides in a friendly community where residents would get together for local events.

The house opens up out the back to an outdoor kitchen, custom pool and spa, and a low-maintenance garden that’s hedged off from nearby homes.

“We have incredible privacy in our backyard for being so close to the city,” Ms Millington said. “It’s a lovely, beautiful sunshine on the deck in the morning.”

Place Woolloongabba agent James Curtain is holding inspections of the property.

11 Ruth St, Highgate Hill

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 11 Ruth St, Highgate Hill, offers a lush living space on a corner home right near the South Bank.

The home contains an array of prestige design choices across its two floors, including herringbone timber flooring and a walkway over a small pond at the property’s front.

French doors and floral patterns adorn the home’s interior, from its wallpaper to the supports by the walls and stairs.

The home’s decor is capped off with a marble island bench, right at the centre of the house’s designer kitchen.

Entering the house means stepping over a small pond, and into polished timber flooring across an open-living level.

Agent Luke Croft of Ray White South Brisbane described the home as “a timeless design aesthetic”, offering “seamless indoor outdoor living” with a view of both the CBD and the suburbs from its wide upper balcony.

The house will be going up for auction on Saturday, September 7.

24 Peebles Pl, Chapel Hill

A four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 24 Peebles Pl, Chapel Hill, offers a home with a view by the edge of a sprawling forest landscape.

The house sits right by Mr Coot-Tha Reserve, with a single-level home that leads down to an outdoor saltwater pool, sitting right next to where the trees begin.

If you want to get lost in the forests of Chapel Hill, just step out from the backyard.

On 1,222 sqm of land, the home features a mini putt-putt green placed at the side of the house, with the property having easy access to any number of nearby nature walks.

Built by its current owners, the home is being sold after 34 years of care and upkeep, ready for its new residents to join life in the cul-de-sac.

58-64 Mathew Cres, Burpengary

A six-bedroom, three-bathroom home north of Brisbane also has five acres of land: offering deluxe living right by a wide and open space.

58-64 Mathew Cres, Burpengary, is more than just the vast land it’s settled on – it’s also a house built for luxury, with polished Italian Porcelain tile and a timber staircase greeting you from the moment you enter the living space.

The home’s vast acreage combines with the interior’s premium finishing to make a versatile home, for those who want to live a little further out of Brisbane.

Five kingsize bedrooms are spread across the upstairs floor, with the lower level dedicated to reading rooms, entertainment spaces and a dedicated guest bedroom.

With a fully fenced area, LED pool and extra large garage space for cars, boats or caravans, the home blends rural living with high-end style.

Agent Leanne Kroes of RE/MAX Platinum Narangba is holding inspections of the home for interested parties.
