McGrath, Geelong agent Wayne Baker said a local buyer emerged to secure the landmark home after the property had been passed in at auction.

The You Yangs, Geelong’s city skyline and Kardinia Park light towers feature in the vista from Moncrieff.

“The purchaser is local who’s always loved the property,” Mr Baker said.

“He didn’t realise that he’d missed the auction. He was glad to hear it was passed in and jumped all over it straight away once he’d heard about it.”

Mr Baker said the property occupied a position that could never be built out.

20-22 Drewan Dr, Wandana Heights, has sold for the first time in 85 years.

“It is an iconic landmark and beautiful old home – it was 25 years ago that it had little updates but the palm tree sticks out driving out to the ring road and everyone knows it,” he said.

20-22 Drewan Dr, Wandana Heights, is listed with price hopes from $1.75m to $1.925m.

“That was the original old farmhouse and parts of it are over 100 years old.

“He feels very privileged and blessed to be taking it on from a family where it’s been owned for over 85 years,” Mr Baker said.

“The appealing factor was the fact that it was on an above-average size block and he loves that old architecture, that homestead style and with the most amazing view over the city, it’s just spectacular.”
