The ultimate retreat for passion projects with a pit, dual storerooms and studio, a Melrose Park home proved too good of a deal to pass on with 11 bidders vying for the property at auction.
The three-bedroom residence at 155 Crozier Ave sold under the hammer on Saturday for $1.02m – $25,000 above the suburb median of $995,000.
PropTrack data shows the home was SA’s most viewed listing heading to auction last week, something which came as no surprise to selling agent Dylan Lynch of Harris Real Estate Kent Town.
“We had almost 150 groups through the home in the lead up to the auction … and it was also the most viewed property we’ve ever had at Harris as well. It was crazy,” he said.
“I think what made it so popular was that it’s in a very tightly held area with good schooling. It’s also close to the beach, the city and McLaren Vale.”

Mr Lynch said the home proved particularly popular with young families who made up the bulk of registered bidders on auction day.
“We had 11 registered bidders on the day,” he said.
“Bidding started at around $800,000 and we got to $1m pretty quickly and from there we had two more bids before it sold.
“The buyers were a family that had relocated from Sydney and were looking to get into the area.”
Mr Lynch said Melrose Park was in the midst of an age geographic shift with more young families moving into the area.
“People that have been here for a long time are selling up, so we’re seeing more young people buying into the area,” he said.
“It’s become very popular and while a lot of people are looking to buy here, there’s currently not a lot on the market which is pushing up prices.”
Situated on a 691sq m allotment, the mid-century home prioritises space to spread out, with a vast L-shaped living area at its centre and an adjacent galley-style kitchen.
A spacious main bedroom was complete with built-in robes, while two additional bedrooms ensured buyers a footprint they could grow into.
Outside, a rear pergola delivers ample space for entertaining, while an extensive workshop with a pit, two storerooms and studio, elevated the property’s framework to an even more impressive level.
