Ever fallen in love with a home so hard you would move states to live in it?
That’s exactly what happened in the case of this modern Rostrevor masterpiece at 1A Yalpara Ave, with vendors Renee and Andrew saying it was very much a case of love at first sight.
“Our daughter was living in Adelaide and during the Covid madness there was one week where we could get across to SA, Renee says.
“We were looking for a house in Melbourne and sitting at the airport and I just changed the location on realestate.com.au from Melbourne to Adelaide for the sake of it and this place came up.
“We went and had a look at it and walked in and thought: ‘If this place was in Melbourne we’d buy it’, and then asked ourselves ‘Well, why do we have to be in Melbourne?’ and we fell in love with it and have since fallen in love with Adelaide.

“Andrew was looking for a place for his car and a workshop area and this had room for that; I do Lego so there’s a room I could use for that; there’s a space I can use as a gym, and there’s a theatre room as well. Plus the pool is great and there are mornings where I’m swimming and being watched by our resident koalas.
“And that view is simply breathtaking – you can see storms come through and on a clear day you can see The Bay and the Norfolk Island pines of Semaphore, so it’s pretty breathtaking. “We see a different sunset every night – they range from bright orange to grey to pastel pinks. Now that we aren’t going to be having many more of them we’ve started raising a glass to it each night – we just love it.”
Set over two levels, the home offers some 572sqm of indoor and outdoor living space, and is complete with up to four bedrooms – or three and a study – and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area opening to a balcony and entertainers deck with an outdoor kitchen. Downstairs you’ll find a theatre, a gym, a study, a workshop and covered parking for five cars; and outside, you’ll find an expansive lawn and a dedicated petanque area.
“The quality of it is just exceptional – my husband’s a builder by trade and if we were building, this is exactly what he would have built,” Renee says.
“The word ‘spoiled’ comes to mind. It’s been a fantastic place to live and it’s with a heavy heart that we now return to Melbourne, but we’ll keep coming back to SA and it’ll be nice to see another family or a professional couple really love it and make the most of it.
“We’ve absolutely loved it here and we’ll miss it. It really has been a dream come true.”
The home is on the market with Williams Real Estate.
