After raising their four now-adult children at 200 Noble St, the vendors are parting ways with the circa 1919 red brick California bungalow.

“We have entertained a lot over the years, we are very much an entertaining family, and the house just works so well,” he said.

“We have had 21st birthdays we have had 30ths we have had 60ths, we have had everything here, so it has really served us extremely well.”

With the children grown, the couple is selling the home through Abercrombys agent Sam Goddard.

Price hopes are $3.95m to $4.3m for an expressions of interest campaign closing on December 16.

It’s complemented by a traditional formal lounge rich in period detail, including an open fireplace, and a stand-alone home office.

The vendor said the central sunken main bedroom suite felt like a private retreat.

“It’s got French doors that open up to the east of the property where there is a really good distance between us and the neighbours,” he said.

“So you get that really beautiful morning eastern light flowing into your bedroom it also makes it cool at night.”

The vendors used to frequently walk past the house before they bought it back in 1999 and it reminded them of something you would find in Hawthorn.

But perhaps his favourite features are the location, within walking distance of prestigious schools, the Barwon River and Newtown eateries, and the block’s dual street frontages.

“You can walk out the back gate and you walk straight into St Joseph’s,” he said.

“All our children went to Geelong College and it was a simple walk out the front gate, turn left and they were there inside five minutes.

“It was just a wonderful location from that point of view. It’s fantastic for children to be able to encourage their friends to come home from school because it’s so close.”
