‘Destroyed’: Snake drama forces costly Swift bathroom repairs

1 week ago 15

Imagine lending your multimillion-dollar mansion to a friend, only to find out they’ve destroyed a bathroom in a bizarre snake-related incident.

That’s exactly what happened to Taylor Swift, thanks to actress Zoe Kravitz and a rogue reptile named Orpheus.

Kravitz, 36, recounted the unbelievable story on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” explaining how Swift, 35, generously opened her Beverly Hills home to her and her mother, Lisa Bonet, during the California wildfires.

Swift was on tour and spending time with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, leaving the property vacant.

But the act of kindness backfired spectacularly when Bonet’s pet snake escaped, leading to a desperate and ultimately destructive search involving a crowbar and a very unfortunate bathroom banquette.

“She’s like, ‘Um, I’m in a little bit of a pickle. Can you come upstairs?’ I’m like, ‘Okay,’” Kravitz recalls of her mother’s call to arms.

When she made her way up to the second story of the home, she found Bonet crouched “in this weird way” the corner of the bathroom.

It was then that Bonet explained exactly what had happened, admitting: “So I was washing my face and I had Orpheus (the snake), and I just put her down for a second. Closed the door and she found this little hole in the corner.”

Kravitz immediately looked down at where her mother was crouching and saw that she was holding her pet snake by the tail in a bid to prevent it from fully slithering into the wall.

“She’s holding the snake’s tail…they’re all muscle, they’re very, very strong,” she said.

“The snake is getting further and further in.”

In a bid to help her mom try and grab the snake, the on-screen star began trying to come up with another way of removing Orpheus from the hole, noting that the opening was “next to a banquette that is built into the wall.”

“I was freaking out,” the actress admitted.

“But I’m like, ‘Mom, I can’t bring you anywhere!”

In the end, the duo had to call for reinforcement with Swift’s house manager taking a crowbar to the banquette and the tile underneath it.

“He starts having to tear apart this banquette, we’re ripping up the tiles, we’re scratching the walls,” Kravirz said.

“We completely destroyed Taylor’s bathroom. And there was just this moment where I was like, ‘Either we destroy her bathroom, or I have to tell her there’s a snake somewhere in her house’.”

Eventually, after wreaking havoc in the bathroom, the actress and her mom were able to get the snake out of the hole and Kravitz promised that she would get everything fixed before Swift returned.

“I remember calling her and saying, ‘Hey,” also in a very high voice, ‘I just wanted to talk to you about something,” Kravitz revealed.

“And she was like, ‘Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?”

Luckily, Swift seems to have found the humour in the situation, with Kravitz revealing that they are in fact still friends – although she noted that she wouldn’t be surprised if Orpheus becomes the target of a diss track on the singer’s new album.

Kravitz and Bonet aren’t the only celebs to have caused havoc in other people’s homes and properties.

Known for his extravagant lifestyle, Depp has faced a number of legal battles over damages to properties, including a well-publicised incident involving a rented mansion on the Gold Coast.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor “accidentally” headbutted his ex-wife Amber Heard and painted the words “I love U” in blood with his severed finger on a mirror a bombshell trial in London’s High Court revealed.

The total damage to the Coomera, Gold Coast mansion he’d rented off motorcycle champ Mick Doohan during the three-day “ordeal of assaults” on Heard in March 2015 was $150,000, the court heard.

Actress Amanda Bynes is also no stranger when it comes to damaging other people’s homes.

In 2014, word spread that Bynes and her parents were asked to pay for property damages after the actress’ roommates alleged that they “trashed” the apartment.

The then 28-year-old actress, who was living with three girls in West Hollywood, including one of her hair stylist, went wild at times and burnt cigarette holes in the carpets, splashed blue hair dye on the carpets and porcelain sinks among other things.

Other celebrities with a history of property damage include Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Axl Rose, Britney Spears and Sam and Lara Worthington.
