A different kind of house will go under the hammer next month and anyone who bids on them will be helping women experiencing homelessness.
Three cubby houses that have been handcrafted and donated by the Men’s Shed Parafield Gardens will be auctioned off online.
From Hamptons-style weatherboard to vibrant finishes, each cubby house has been thoughtfully crafted to ensure they are both a children’s playspace and a backyard feature.
All the proceeds from the auction will go to Wright Place, a female-only crisis accommodation service in the Adelaide CBD that also supports women to rebuild independence and stability.

Wright Place was established in 2023 by Baptist Care SA, Carrington Cottages and Toward Home Alliance with funding support from the SA Housing Authority.
Harris Real Estate is pitching in to help the cause by hosting the online auction until the campaign ends on June 2.
The team will tap in to its network of buyers and sellers to drive awareness about the cause and maximise fundraising efforts.

Harris Real Estate managing director Phil Harris said his team was honoured to help.
“We’re in a position where we can bring communities together, and this is a powerful example of how that reach can be used to support those who need it most,” he said.

For those who couldn’t or didn’t want to bid on one of the cubby houses, there was also a direct donation option to ensure anyone could contribute.
“We know not everyone can bid,” Mr Harris said.
“By creating multiple ways to be involved, we’re enabling people to support the incredible work being done by Baptist Care and Wright Place.”
The online auction can be accessed here.
