A Sydney landlord is seeking $1.3m a year in rent, the same price it would cost to buy an average Sydney home.

Panoramic harbour views across to Point Piper and Mosman with a three level secluded Victorian residence will cost tenants a hefty $25,000 per week.

That’s more than it costs to own a home in the Harbour city – the median purchase price in Sydney is currently sitting at $1.118m, according to PropTrack.

On top of that $1.3m a year, there is a $100,000 bond.

This is the view that $1.3m a year gets you.

Listing agent and principal of SydneySlice, Deborah West, who specialises in luxury executive rentals said its very rare to have this kind of home offered to lease.

“It’s very unique to have that combination of the tennis court, land size and that estate style offering for rent,” Ms West said.

Long held by the same family, Ms West said the owners were looking to rent it out to do extensive travel and were only interested in long-term tenants, offering a six or 12 month lease.

“Most of the inquiry is from local potential tenants or overseas executives looking to relocate to Sydney.”
