Tasmanian history lovers will need to put their best foot forward if their dream is to own this classic home.
It’s only been on the market for one week, but interest in New Norfolk’s 1892-built The Rectory has been sky-high.
The first, and possibly only, chance to inspect the property will be held today for three hours starting at 12.30pm.
And it won’t just be local potential buyers in attendance.
BelleParker@homes director Belle Parker has people flying in to get a first-hand look at this significant and impressive historic home.
“We have several interested parties from the Derwent Valley area, plus people flying in from Western Australia, NSW, and Norfolk Island, about 1000km off the QLD coast,” she said.
“People making the time and effort to come all that way, just to view a property, say a lot about the quality of this stunning home.”

Mrs Parker said the buzz had been steadily building since the first moment they teased that a special property was coming soon on the agency’s social media platforms.
“No one has inspected the property yet, that will happen at the Saturday open house,” she said.
“It will be great fun. Devonshire tea, scones with jam and cream — and the chance to see this gorgeous property up close.”
The Rectory is set on a 1927sq m level allotment, which is home to glorious gardens.
Over two levels, the home offers a flexible floorplan with five bedrooms, a study, formal dining, formal sitting, a living area, a kitchen with an eat-in dining space and a walk-in pantry, too.
There are two beautiful bathrooms, one highlighted by a claw-foot tub.

Tastefully refurbished throughout, the owners have spent decades caring for their property.
Among the many period details are its high ceilings, ceiling roses, nine fireplaces — a mix of decorative and still working — plus the stained-glass entrance foyer and an ornate timber carved staircase.
No expense was spared in ensuring the house was preserved for future generations. Take the stunning, tiled, three-sided veranda as an example of the owner’s eye for detail.
The grounds feature expansive manicured lawns, a giant elm tree and formal hedges.

Mrs Parker said the location, size and stature of the home make a grand first impression.
“As far as buyer demographics, everyone I’ve spoken to so far has experience with heritage homes,” she said.
