Australia’s hottest young gun agents are getting rich in their 20s, selling millions of dollars of property in just 12 months.

A national data investigation by Newscorp revealed the top-selling young real estate stars around the country, revealing that some of industry’s youngest are also the hungriest — in some cases making more than 100+ transactions in a year — or selling more than $70m worth of homes.

VICTORIA

For 21-year-old Victorian Peter Serafino, his high-achieving ambitions began when he was just a teenager.

He started his first business — providing social media marketing services to local businesses — as he sought to save up to buy a car.

Saying how he always aiming to achieve goals from day one of his young journey, he has charted an impressive trajectory, selling nearly $25.2m worth of homes in just 12 months as a real estate agent — a profession famous for its fierce competition and brutal hours.

“I have three pillars that shape the way I go about my life: mental, physical, and financial health,” Mr Serafino said.

While many of his peers are still studying at university or off travelling the globe, he is selling houses worth as much as $3m a piece, and now has his sights set on starting his own property portfolio, with plans to buy his own first home this month.

QUEENSLAND

22-year-old Harleigh Harris has worked in the property industry for five years, and is already taking the lead on some big figure deals.

Working across Queensland in Nundah, Wavell Heights, Nudgee and Banyo for Belle Property, Mr Harris’ doesn’t mess about when trying to close the sale, with his average time on market for properties he is selling totalling just three weeks.

“It’s a very surreal feeling,” Harleigh Harris told The Courier Mail, who’s on the list for the first time.

“Just being on the list is amazing. There are so many talented and hardworking agents out there.”

While others friends his age might still be sitting in university classes for 40+ hours per week, in the 2022-23 financial year Mr Harris managed to sell 44 homes.

Those sales totalled a jaw-dropping $48.4m, averaging out to $1.1m per deal.

NEW SOUTH WALES

In Sydney’s highly competitive market, it is hard for young agents to make a name for themselves and stand out from the pack.

Which is why it is so impressive that 22-year-old Eli Alkassar secured over $70m in deals over the past financial year.

Eli Alkassar was the youngest agent to make the list in NSW.

After working as a hairdresser in his teenage years scrounging money wherever he could, he made the switch to property and began working for Ray White in the St Marys region.

Now the young real estate gun is really hitting his stride — in the past 12 months he has sold 84 properties for a combined total value of over $75.1m.

And in a Sydney’s east, where transactions can consistently be in the tens of millions, many young agents find it hard to score the big-dollar deals straight away.

But a young wave of talented up-and-comers are making wavers in the east, with 24-year-old Natalie Field from McGrath Coogee selling 33 properties last year for a combined $42.4m.

And out in Sydney’s west, where house prices are generally lower — meaning it can be harder to accumulate a big dollar amount of total sales — 23-year-old Monique Layoun from McGrath is finding her way in Blacktown, selling 41 properties in that past 12 months for a combined total of nearly $41m.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The youngest entrant on the aspiring young list around the country came from SA, where 20-year-old Harry Shortland is making a name for himself in just his first year in the game.

Securing nearly 50 listings in his first year alone, Mr Shorland — who works for Harcourts in the Adelaide Hills area, managed to sell 16 of them.

It put his total sale price to just over $1.81m for the financial year.

And while that number may not look as high compared to the top-selling young agent in the state who totalled more than $164m — to debut at number 32 on the list in your first year on the job is very impressive.
