Australia’s ‘White House’ is for sale; with its own west wing and countless chandeliers

A mini-mansion in greater Brisbane known as the 'White House' has hit the market, and like its US namesake it sports chandeliers in almost every room and its very own west wing.

The six-bedroom acreage property at 2 Plantagenet Court, Forestdale comes with about 16 chandeliers in different shapes and sizes located throughout the home.

It also has the option to be two completely separate residences – with the west wing including its own separate kitchen, living area and two bedrooms – one with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.

The opulent light fittings are one of the most eye-catching features of the home, scattered throughout the living and dining zones, bedrooms and bathrooms. The home also has other design features seen in the real White House, including marble columns, decorative cornices and ceiling roses – all that's missing is an oval office.

The property has received glowing reviews from home buyers since it was listed for sale last week, with more than 50 people attending its first inspection.

Selling agent Philip Resnikoff from Crafted Property said the property was proving popular with buyers because it was unique.

“It's a luxury statement home in Forestdale that has some very opulent features such as the beautiful pillars, chandeliers and its sweeping staircase,” Mr Resnikoff said.

“It's a timeless mini mansion that has a real presence when you pull up to it.

“People will either love what it's got or look to renovate and add their own personal touches as they see fit.”

The European-style home offers the ultimate luxe lifestyle, with a versatile floor-plan accommodating dual and tri-living families, according to the home’s listing.

It has a grand foyer area with a striking staircase – not unlike the real White House, albeit a little smaller – multiple living zones and an outdoor entertaining area.

Mr Resnikoff said properties like the Forestdale home were rarely listed for sale.

“It’s a statement piece that you would have to build now because it’s so rare to find for sale,” he said.

“Every previous owner of the home has added different touches to it to increase the grandiosity of the home, including the statues, chandeliers and other features.”

The home sits on a 4,379sqm corner block in Forestdale – a suburb located about 22km south of Brisbane’s CBD.

Mr Resnikoff said Forestdale was a tightly held and exclusive suburb that offered an acreage lifestyle with nearby motorway access.

The Forestdale home is scheduled to go under the hammer, with an auction scheduled for August 31.

The home doesn’t have a price guide due to auction laws in Queensland.

House prices in Forestdale rose 29.6% to $1.5 million during the 12 months to July, according to PropTrack.
