This stunning home owned by one of the country’s leading animal surgeons is up for sale with a weird value add.

One of the country’s first female animal surgeons, Sarah Goldsmid, lives in a tranquil cul-de-sac home surrounded by bushland that is now for sale.

And it comes with a surprising value add — rabbits and their long rabbit run can be included in the deal.

Dr Goldsmid is a small animal specialist, vets from all over NSW refer complex cases to her and she founded the largest specialist and emergency animal hospital in Australia, The Animal Referral Hospital.

12 Delta Rd, Lane Cove is quite the home.

She has performed hip replacements, knee reconstructions, spinal surgeries and skin grafting on all manner of domestic animals – as well as a few cheetahs, bears and echidnas from zoos.

At home in Lane Cove, she and her husband Scott have two small dogs, a cat and four rabbits, as well as an ingenious run in the front garden with tunnels for the rabbits.

“I love the quiet street, the privacy and the bush setting – it’s like being in a treehouse,” she says.

“You can’t see another house and yet we are just 10 minutes’ walk to Lane Cove village centre.”

The cat doesn’t come with the house, but the rabbits are an optional extra.

The couple’s five-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 12 Delta Rd was designed by architect Garry Lewin and built in 2000 for an interior designer. It overlooks Lane Cove Golf Club and is oriented to maximise northern exposure.

There is an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, a rumpus, a home office and various bedroom configurations.

A wet-edge swimming pool connects the house with a stand-alone studio and there are cantilevered verandas, a terrace and a front level lawn.

The home is up for auction with a $5m guide.

The garage can take four cars and would suit a car enthusiast.

Tim Holgate, of Belle Property Lane Cove, says the home offers flexible options for family living, app-controlled technology and premium finishes throughout.

It goes to auction on September 7 and has a guide of $5m.
