Billionaire Adrian Portelli has revealed the winner of his mega-giveaway of all The Block 2024 properties ended up taking home the alternative prize of $8m in cash.

In Australia’s most lucrative giveaway outside of lotteries, the richlister offered up a choice of either all five Phillip Island homes from last season’s The Block, or a substantial cash prize.

Ballarat resident and healthcare worker Holly won the sweepstakes and ended up pocketing the money, he revealed.

Portelli said the cash prize had already cleared into her account and they were sending her a check as well.

He added that LMCT+ was not going to be running another giveaway of the properties as a promotion of that scale was costly.

“I’ve purchased (the homes) twice now,” he said.

“I think everyone forgets that the resort is one half of the cost. So to run a promotion like that costs double the amount we have paid for it in marketing expenses and running it and permits.

“It’s really difficult to try chase the money back for it.”

Portelli said he would most likely keep the residences for himself and maybe hold events there.

His shopping and rewards company LMCT+ planned to conduct the draw — where about 75,000 viewers on Facebook tuned in — on Boxing Day but due to technical difficulties, it was postponed to the next day.

The eventual winner Holly, 34, was announced as gold confetti rained down on The Block 2024 winners Maddy and Charlotte as well as Portelli.

“Oh my God, no f**ing way. I didn’t watch the live on purpose because I thought it would be bad luck,” Holly said at the time.

The billionaire launched the giveaway in November following last year’s season finale of The Block, in which he purchased all five properties for a staggering $15m.

The Block purchased the Island Cove Villas in Phillip Island in 2023 for its 2024 season.
