Plans have been lodged for a six-storey apartment complex to be built in Sydney’s east as part of the state government’s plan to add 10,000 homes to one suburb by 2029.
The planned complex would bring 29 apartments to Woollahra and cost developers Abadeen $36m.
Plans are for the development to be positioned on 101-115 Edgecliff Rd, within walking distance of Woollahra Village and Bondi Junction.

It also comes as part of Woollahra’s planned transformation by the NSW Government, who want to add a new train station and 10,000 homes to the suburb by 2029.
Minister for Transport John Graham said the government project “just makes sense” and aimed to add housing supply for those “being forced to move out of Sydney”.
“About 10,000 new homes in this area is part of the solution to that problem and a rebalance from all housing growth happening in Sydney’s west,” he said.

Abadeen’s development proposal also responds to the state government’s low and midrise housing reforms, which now allow apartment buildings within 400m of major centres and transport hubs to be up to six storeys.
Abadeen founder Justin Brown said Edgecliff Rd was a “remarkable site” that represented the type of well located, tightly held opportunity they sought.
“Our focus has always been to identify, secure and progress sites that deliver enduring value for residents, communities and our investors,” he said.

Abadeen CEO Joe Tack said the project reflected the depth of demand for premium, design-led apartment living in the eastern suburbs.
“Woollahra is defined by heritage, lifestyle and connectivity and the Edgecliff Rd proposal presents an opportunity to contribute thoughtfully to the suburb’s evolution, delivering contemporary medium density housing close to transport, retail and open space,” he said.
