And local and international celebrities are getting in on the action with some pricey purchases and sales.

One of the biggest recent celebrity moves involved radio royalty Jackie “O” Henderson and Kyle Sandilands, who both independently snapped up multimillion dollar properties.

Henderson pocketed $13m for her former Woollahra home after deciding to relocate to Clovelly, where she bought a $1960s home for $13.25m in March last year.

Henderson’s co-host Sandilands and his wife Tegan Kynaston snapped up an incredible home in Sydney’s Vaucluse with views of the harbour and city for more than $13m.

Sources close to the pair revealed they loved the privacy of the two-level four-bedroom, four-bathroom home with pool and double garage, a few minutes’ drive from where they had been renting.

The KIIS FM breakfast star and Kynaston own another home at Glenorie in the Hills district, bought for $3m in 2022. It is understood they will use that home as a weekender.

Other radio stars have also signed off on big property trades recently.

2GB broadcaster Ray Hadley and wife Sophie, who reside in Sydney’s northwest, secured a Central Coast weekender. The couple bought a five-bedroom home on the Bouddi Peninsula with views over Brisbane Water.

Radio presenter and former host of The Project Carrie Bickmore sold her Byron Bay property late last year for $4.3m as she settles her divorce from husband Chris Walker.

The five-bedroom cottage was previously offered as an Airbnb rental. Bickmore bought the home for $3m in 2018.

Actor Nicole Kidman and country singer husband Keith Urban used 2023 as a chance to sure up their Sydney investment property portfolio.

The power couple bought a $7.72m three-bedroom unit in the Latitude Building in Milsons Point. The couple already owned five other units in the Mirvac-built apartment block – the first, a penthouse, snapped up in 2009 for $6m.

Entrepreneur and PR queen Roxy Jacenko sold her Vaucluse home for circa $16m — $2m above the price guide. She’s since moved to Singapore.

Franklin and wife Jesinta sold their luxury unit in Rose Bay to former NRL boss Todd Greenberg for close to $5m. Records showed it was the same price the couple bought the home for in 2020.

The apartment on Carlisle St has a 200 sqm private garden, marble kitchen, three bathrooms and dressing room.

The duo left Sydney behind after buying an estate in the Gold Coast hinterland for about $8.75m.

The home is now for sale.

Swimming champion Ian Thorpe Woollahra property was put up for rent.


Swimming great Ian Thorpe moved around the corner from where he had previously been, paying $2.79m for an Edgecliff unit in the Harry Seidler-designed Arlington complex. The two-level home has Harbour views.

Thorpe’s nearby Woollahra townhouse, which passed in on a $3.95m vendor bid at its September auction, has since been leased at a reported $1850 a week.

Former Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess secured $1.212m for on his Little Bay unit just ahead of his departure to England to take up the role of coach at the Warrington Wolves. He paid $955,000 for the two-bed unit in 2015, record showed.

NRL star Latrell Mitchell tried to offload his 222ha cattle farm near Taree. He was seeking $1.38m for the property when it was first listed earlier this year, but it appears not to have changed hands.

The farm attracted controversy during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdowns when he was fined for breaching health laws after driving there for a camping trip with 10 others.

Fitness guru Michelle Bridges listed her Southern Highlands estate with an ambitious $7m guidance in February.

It later passed in at auction on a bid of $4.825m and the property was relisted with a guide of $4.6m-$4.8m, which was reduced again to $4.15-$4.4m. The Kangaloon home eventually sold for $4.2m.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Michael “Flea” Balzary sold his NSW south coast retreat for about $2.47m. The guide was $3m.

The home was where the Peppers penned some of their best-selling music and Australian-born Flea had owned it for close to 30 years.

The five-bedroom, two-storey home is near the beach in Congo. The band were reported to have surfed the local break when in town.
